Care Guide

How a Ketelier piece lives well.

Macramé is more forgiving than people think. A few small habits and a piece will outlast most of your furniture.

Type 01 Wall Hangings
Materials

Cotton cord 4–6mm · wooden dowel

  1. 01Dust monthly with a soft brush or low-suction vacuum.
  2. 02Spot clean with cool water and a mild soap — never submerge.
  3. 03Avoid direct south-facing sun for more than 6 hours daily.
  4. 04If fringe loses shape: mist lightly, comb with fingers, let air-dry.
  5. 05Hang from the dowel, not from individual cords.
Type 02 Plant Hangers
Materials

Cotton 3–4mm · brass O-rings · S-hooks

  1. 01Pot-water spills: blot immediately, do not rub.
  2. 02Use a saucer under terracotta pots — clay sweat will stain natural cotton.
  3. 03Inspect the brass ring once a season; rotate to even out wear.
  4. 04Mount to a ceiling joist or a 25kg-rated anchor, not drywall alone.
  5. 05Avoid cleaning sprays near the cord — plant-leaf shine in particular.
Type 03 Shelf Accents & Coasters
Materials

Cotton 3–5mm · raffia blends · brass caps

  1. 01Coasters: spot clean only. Hot cups are fine; wet glass leaves rings.
  2. 02Tassels: comb fringe once a month with your fingers.
  3. 03Keep away from open flame (table candles in particular).
  4. 04If the brass tarnishes, a soft cloth and patience restore it.
Type 04 Fruit Hammock
Materials

Cotton 3mm open-weave net · brass S-hook

  1. 01Capacity: 4–6 lbs. Don't overload — the net is designed to drape, not to bear.
  2. 02Citrus and stone fruit are ideal. Avoid wet-skin fruit (mangoes) in contact with the net.
  3. 03Brush crumbs and rinse with cool water monthly. Air-dry fully before re-loading.
  4. 04If the net loses shape, hang empty overnight — it returns.
From the workshop

A macramé piece wants to be left mostly alone. Dust it, look at it, and leave it.
